Art Practice Summary

Her art practice is centred on abstract and semi-abstract acrylic painting, drawing inspiration from nature, eastern philosophy, and lived experience. Kerry-Anne’s works are known for their bold, expressive forms and layered symbolism, often featuring native Australian birds as metaphors for resilience, intuition, and transformation. Integrating spiritual and emotional themes, her paintings invite the viewer to engage not only visually, but energetically.

Living with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), Kerry-Anne creates from her home studio in the Blue Mountains at a paced and considered rhythm. Her condition informs a unique sensitivity to space, movement, and balance, and her art is consciously designed to bring harmony, peace, and emotional resonance to the environments it inhabits.

Kerry-Anne is a Featured Artist with Art Lovers Australia—a highly selective national gallery. Her works have been selected for ALA’s major exhibitions, including Wild Things, where her work appeared on the galleries homepage banner and was included in the gallery’s national shareholder campaign. Kerry-Anne has found Art Lovers Australia to be exceptionally inclusive, accessible, and supportive. Her work has also been shown in select local exhibitions such as Blue Mountains Portraits, the Blue Fringe Festival, and others. However, she notes that opportunities have been more limited than she would like due to accessibility barriers in the arts. She extends special thanks to Gang Gang Gallery in Lithgow for their support in hosting a solo exhibition of Kerry-Anne’s works in 2024.

Through her Own Teaching Studio, Kerry-Anne has taught private classes and mentored emerging artists across all ages and abilities. With a background in education, community development, and the arts, her teaching philosophy emphasises creativity as a tool for empowerment, inclusion, and self-expression.

After studying Fine arts Kerry-Anne was selected by Sydney’s highly contended Commercial Arts Collage in Randwick in the 90’s. Kerry-Anne contributes her sheer determination and her visual skills, to her selection. Assessed in the Very Superior range for visual-spatial reasoning in formal university testing, Kerry-Anne’s creative strengths are especially evident in her semi-abstract compositions, spatial harmony, and intuitive visual storytelling. She continues to work with Accessible Arts Australia (an organisation for people with disabilities) for better outcomes around accessibility in the arts.

Work History

Independent Artist & Arts Educator | 2018–Present
Over the past seven years, Kerry-Anne has focused on developing her personal art practice while providing private art classes through Ebb & Flow Studio, a creative hub she founded. Her classes took priority but her own work has slowly evolved from exhibiting with Bluethumb (an open marketplace platform) to becoming a represented artist with Art Lovers Australia, a highly selective gallery.

Featured Artist – Art Lovers Australia | 2024–Present
Selected as one of only 1000 artists represented nationally by Art Lovers Australia. Kerry-Anne’s artworks have featured in major curated exhibitions with ALA, including Wild Things, and have been showcased on the gallery’s homepage. Her work was also included in ALA’s national shareholder marketing campaign, promoting investment in the gallery.

Various Roles in Early Childhood, Secondary Education & Community Services
Prior to her full-time focus on the arts, Kerry-Anne worked extensively across education and community sectors. She held roles as both a Teacher and Director, integrating her artistic skills into therapeutic and creative learning settings. With dual qualifications in education and community services, she specialised in supporting vulnerable families, individuals with disabilities, and early intervention programs.

Cognitive Strength – Visual-Spatial Reasoning
After studying Fine Arts, Kerry-Anne was accepted into one of Sydney’s most competitive commercial art colleges in Randwick during the 1990s. She credits her selection to a combination of sheer determination and strong visual-spatial skills. Later, she was formally assessed in the Very Superior range for visual-spatial reasoning during university testing—a cognitive strength reflected in her semi-abstract compositions, spatial harmony, and intuitive visual storytelling. Kerry-Anne also works with Accessible Arts Australia,  for accessibility opportunities.
