The shift from high school to employment, tertiary education or other community options is a huge leap. So we are thrilled to support you as you embark on a journey towards greater self-compassion in this social class for high functioning adults on the spectrum. Both ADHD and ASD are neurodevelopmental disorders. Both conditions affect the central nervous system, which is responsible for movement, language, memory, and social and focusing skills. For this reason this course is for prople with ASD, ADHD and Anxiety.

In this class you will build a tool kit for success around: friendships, mindfulness, confidence, positivity and creativity. The central idea of self-compassion is learning to be kind to yourself. It also involves being warm and understanding toward ourselves when we are suffering, fail at something or feel inadequate, rather than ignoring our pain or being too self-critical. Students learn from real experiences focused on mindfulness, pet therapy, art therapy and socialy supported peer engagement that involves life coaching and social skills training for stepping into the adult realm including understanding healthy relatonships. Learning how to building social connections that create social capital is key for a fulfuilling adult life. There are opportunities for reflection so that learnings can be transferred into everyday life.

This is a strength-based approach to develop strengths and build on resilience. What will the activities look like over 10 weeks: social skills, sound baths, pet therapy, easy meditation, deveoping intentions, mindfulness in motion, peer discusion and 5 weeks of an art therapy project. This class is primarily for high functioning ASD/ADHD or people Anxiety, adults 18 - 25, “High-functioning autism” isn’t an official medical term, it’s an informal one some people use when they talk about people with autism spectrum disorder who can speak, read, write, and handle basic life skills and can live independently with or without support.
